     It’s not a cruel summer – it’s a great summer for Freeform<\/a>. The Disney<\/a>-owned cable channel just revealed that it has officially handed out a second season<\/a> renewal for its hit series<\/a> that just premiered two months ago.<\/p>\n

     Officially becoming the most watched series on the Freeform, Cruel Summer<\/a> <\/em>has it all. The psychological-thriller<\/a> series follows the story of one girl who vanishes while another girl mysteriously takes her own life.<\/p>\n

     Executive produced by Jessica Biel<\/a>, the series features Disney Channel-alum Olivia Holt<\/a> as Kate, a popular girl who disappears without explanation, and Chiara Aurelia<\/a> as Jeanette, a nerdy wannabe who may or may not have a connection to the disappearance of her classmate.<\/p>\n

     The show shifts between perspectives from the different characters, and is told over three summers.<\/p>\n

     Premiering in April, Cruel Summer <\/em>has already reached the top of Freeform’s viewing list, ranking at No. 1 for new cable<\/a> drama of the year for women ages 18-34.<\/p>\n

     In a statement, Freeform’s new president Tara Duncan shared the exciting news:<\/p>\n

   “Renewing Cruel Summer for a season two was an easy decision. It’s the biggest series debut in Freeform’s history, and the audience response has been overwhelmingly positive.”<\/p>\n

     The official Cruel Summer<\/em> account took to Twitter<\/a> to share the news of their renewal with fans in a short video:<\/p>\n

     The second season’s release date and episode count have not yet been determined.<\/p>\n

   Season 1 of Cruel Summer<\/em> will wrap up on Tuesday at 10:00 p.m. on Freeform, and is available to stream now with a premium subscription on Hulu<\/a>.<\/p>\n
